The purpose of the Parent Teacher Association (“PTA”) is to represent the Parent body in informing and assisting the school body, comprising the Senior management (“SMT”) of the school as well as the Board of Governors (“BOG”), on matters of significance and relevance, relating to advancement of the holistic development of learners.
Holistic development extends beyond academic education to the physical, emotional, social and spiritual development of learners. Significance pertains to matters that are non-trivial nature and relevance pertains to matters in the advancement of learners.
I am humbled to join the PTA and my interest lies in serving the needs of learners, parents, and the school through the objectives of this association.
I seek to make a meaningful contribution through the trust that has been afforded tome and will measure success through the notable differences that we seek to make. I am a Chartered Accountant by profession, currently hold a day job as a finance director and serve on various committees and Board of Directors.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling and crafting with food where I have founded my own start-up in the form of Maverick and Jane.
I look forward to engagement with the Parents of HMA, where we can assist to build and maintain a remarkable school.
Born in KZN, pursued studies in the Engineering fraternity, and I’m currently employed in the Broadcasting/Media sector.
I’ve been a part of the Houghton community for over a decade. I’m an avid Marine Aquarist and I love keeping abreast with Technology.

I hold an Honour’s Degree in Psychology from the University of the Witwatersrand. Currently, I am a stay at home mum to 5 beautiful lil humans.
I was always intrigued by the beauty of the mind. I am in awe of what nurturing can do for an individual’s progress, child or adult.
I have never worked in the field of Psychology due to having had my first baby whilst in my Honours year; however my experience raising 5 very different individuals has equipped me with many tools.
Alhamdulillah, 4 of my children attend HMA. It has been our school of choice despite the many options in our area. The Islamic Ethos is so important in my vision for the way in which my children are taught, and HMA definitely does not fall short in that department. I would love to be a part of like minded people who collaborate and suggest ways in which we can create an environment that caters to the individual needs of every learner.
I have a daughter in Grade 7 and a baby who will attend grade 1 in 7 years. Because I have a vested interest at HMA, I will be passionate and committed to ensuring it reach greater heights In sha Allah.

I am a passionate Hospital pharmacist conducting ICU Rounds and lecturing. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Clinical pharmacy and pharmaceutical microbiology. I love teaching and am passionate about education.
I live by the quote of Nelson Mandela that education is the most powerful weapon with which you can change the world.
I hope to support HMA to achieve the goals of excellence in both education and Islamic character so that learners develop into adults who will one day contribute positively to society and humanity at large

Secretary of Emdeni Muslim Association in Soweto, working to empower adults and children living in an underprivileged community and initiating feeding schemes and afternoon classes.
Interests- social work, coordinating and organising fundraising events Ameera of The Two Lights Foundation Syria bread project, Houghton. Currently heading the South African National Muslim Women’s Forum, Houghton wing.
